Lake Estes is the crown jewel of Estes Park and a lovely 3.7 mile paved trail around the lake is just steps away from Murphy's front door. Walk, run, bicycle or rollerblade on the charming trail encircling the shores of Lake Estes and the Big Thompson River. Unwind, breathe fresh mountain air and enjoy stunning views of the majestic Rocky Mountains surrounding our quaint town and Resort. A casual lake walk is the perfect change of pace for our guests as the trail is rarely crowded and a variety of wildlife abounds.
Though there is minimal elevation gain on the Lake Estes Trail, Estes Park is 7,522’ so be sure to pace yourself at our high elevation. If you notice a shortness of breath, slow down and breathe deeply until you catch a full breath again. Remember sunscreen, sunglasses and rain gear if needed.
Our resort goes above what you would expect by offering something for everyone. Be sure to ask our caring staff members for any suggestions they have about activities you might enjoy on our property or in the local area.
Our natural playground in the mountains is the ideal home for your stay in the Rocky Mountains. Many activities are available right from our front door, including a beautiful walk around sparkling Lake Estes.
Indoor and Outdoor Activities
Murphy’s 6.5 acres is loaded with amenities for our fun-loving guests. Be sure to plan a picnic in one of our picnic areas where gas grills and fire pits abound. We offer two playgrounds for youngsters to have fun in as well as nearly a dozen outdoor games: Shuffle board, Bocce ball, volleyball, tether ball, horseshoes and more.
Oh, and don’t forget our wonderful outdoor heated swimming pool, (seasonal, closed Labor Day thru Memorial Day) and though it’s closed during the winter months, our ginormous indoor hot tub is open year-round and you won’t want to miss this. Some folks say it’s the biggest hot tub in town!
There are so many wonderful adventures awaiting you throughout our sweet town which gladden hearts, entertain people of every age and leave lasting memories. Visit Estes Park maintains an up-to-date schedule of the diverse activities available within Estes Park as well as Rocky Mountain National Park.
We’re always full of stories and we’d love to hear yours, too. Join us, meet fellow travelers and swing your feet in a dance or two as a guest plays guitar by the campfire. We’ll always notify you of these events in advance and post them on our event calendar and in our lobby.
